.The 2016 Cooley-Mead Award committee is delighted and honored to name Carmi Schooler as the 2016 award recipient. Dr. Schooler is currently a senior research scientist in the Sociology department at University of Maryland, and previously provided five decades of intellectual and administrative leadership in the Section on Socio-environmental Studies, Office of the Scientific Director, National Institute of Mental Health. The Cooley-Mead Award, bestowed by the Social Psychology section of the American Sociological Association, is given annually to an individual who has made lifetime contributions to distinguished scholarship in sociological social psychology. The search committee members hold in highest regard Dr. Schooler's path-breaking methodological and substantive contributions to understanding social/structural influences on personality over the life course, and his careful attention to cultural context in his rich and theoretically cohesive body of cross-national work.
